Welcome to the NEW
Clare County Parks & Recreation website!
Clare County is an outdoorsmans paradise, with over 50,000
acres of State Forests, 300 miles of rivers, 28 miles of snowmobile trails, and over 20
public access lakes. It is the mission of Clare County Parks & Recreation to make
resident and visitors aware of the tremendous
number of recreational resources and activities available throughout the county. We have
worked hard to bring new activities, improve existing resources and make community events
known to the public. Please take an opportunity to enjoy some of the great recreational
resources and community activities occurring throughout Clare County!
The mission of Clare County Parks & Recreation is:
- To provide high quality public recreation facilities for all county
residents and guests;
- To promote physical and mental well-being;
- To enhance the quality of life for all citizen groups; and
- To protect and enhance the enjoyment of our unique
environment
Clare County Parks & Recreation was
chartered by the Clare County Commission in 1997 with the goal of helping to improve the
quality of life for county residents and visitors through recreation. Since that time,
many studies have been done and plans been made on how best to increase the quality of
recreational resources throughout the county, with the least cost. Only recently (since
August 2004) have these plans been placed in motion, thanks to the generosity of:
The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation
The Clare County Enterprise Community
The Saginaw bay WIN Foundation
The Gerstacker Foundation
These generous organizations recognize the
importance of quality recreation resources and programs to the community. To date, Clare
County Parks & Recreation exists almost entirely on grant monies given by these
agencies. Now, Clare County Parks & Recreation has begun to deliver to the community
those resources which were deemed important by the community during the many years of
planning and studies.
Please take a look at the projects and programs being undertaken by our agency. We hope
that you take the time to enjoy these resources, and please contact us if you feel there
are other recreational projects you would like to see in our communities!
Special thanks to the
Saginaw Bay WIN Foundation for their donations, making this web site
possible
